| settaggio Dx8
Buongiorno a tutti!!!! Grazie 1000 a tutti e ... pazienza (con me ce ne vuole parecchia) |

DX-8 Sailplane Setup The DX8 is designed to support airplanes and helicopters with sophisticated programming functions and features. Several pilots have requested programming information for full functioning sailplanes and while the DX8 does not have sailplane specific programming, by utilizing the eight available programmable mixes in Airplane mode, the DX8 can be programmed to accommodate most sailplane functions. A sailplane base-line program is now available that can be transferred to your DX8s model memory using an SD card that provides base programming for a 6-channel sailplane with 4-servo wing offering the following functions: Three flight modes-(position 0= Launch, 1= Cruise, 2=Reflex) Adjustable camber- in cruise mode via the rotary knob Independent trims in each flight mode- ideal for optimizing elevator trim settings per flight mode Independent differential- adjustment in each flight mode Crow/ Butterfly mix- Flaps down and ailerons up on the throttle stick programmed to cruise and reflex flight modes Elevator compensation- (linear only) mixed to Crow/ Butterfly in cruise and reflex modes Aileron to flaps- in all flight modes provide full span ailerons Elevator to flaps- in cruise and reflex modes Aileron to rudder- assigned to turn on/ off with the gear switch Throttle stick warning- when turning on the transmitter and the stick is not in the high position Important- The provided setting on the SD card are the actual setup parameters (reversing directions, travel values, etc.) for a specific model. These setting are provided as a baseline setup only allowing you to build a setup to meet your specific models needs. The values and reverse settings for your model will differ and must be carefully adjusted and tested before flying. Note: Its recommended that this model program be stored as model #30 in your DX8 and then copied to the intended model that you wish to use. This will allow recopy to other models and have reference to the base model program if/ when needed even at the field. Preparing Your DX8 transmitter 1.Download the model (6ch Glider) from your computer to an SD card 2.Insert the SD card into your DX8 3.In system setup mode, use the Select Model function to select the model number you wish to use for the model (we recommend Model #30) 4.While still in system setup mode enter the Transfer SD Card screen 5.Under Options roll the roller until Import Model appears 6.Highlight 6ch Glider, and then press the roller. The model will be transferred to the model memory that your DX8 is currently in. (Recommend to store in Model #30) 7.Transfer the 6ch Glider program to the desired model memory that you wish to use and enter that model memory. Transmitter Functions Before getting started its important to identify the switches and sticks that are used and how they function: Throttle Stick- Starts in the up position, Used to activate Crow/ Butterfly braking in Cruise and Reflex modes. Note warning if stick is in low position when transmitter is turned on. Elevator stick- Provides normal elevator operation that is mixed to flaps in cruise and reflex modes. Aileron stick- Provides normal roll operation mixed to flaps in cruise and reflex modes and mixed to rudder when the gear switch is activated Rudder stick- normal operation Flight Mode Switch- Selects the three flight modes (position 0= Launch, 1= Cruise, 2=Reflex) Gear Switch- Turns on/ off the aileron to rudder mixing (forward = On) Aux 3 Knob- Adjust Camber in Cruise mode only Trims- Separate trim setting are automatically stored for each flight mode Timer Button- A 5:00 minute up-timer is programmed to start when the Trainer button is pressed Basic Setup Procedures Preparing Your Sailplane Step #1- Install the servos leads in the receiver A 7-channel or greater receiver is needed. Plug the servo leads into the following ports in the receiver: Receiver Port Servo Throttle Not used Aileron Right Aileron Elevator Elevator Rudder Rudder Gear Left Flap Aux1 Left Aileron Aux2 Right Flap Aux3 Not used Step #2- Bind the receiver Step #3 Servo reversing- Adjust all channels servo reversing to the correct direction Step #4- In flap system with the flight mode switch in the middle position (1) cruise adjust the mid flap value to neutralize the flaps. Step #5- Adjust sub trim on all channels Step #6- In flap system adjust all three preset flap settings (reflex, cruise and launch) Step #7- Use the following mixes to adjust the remaining mix functions: ELE > FLP- active in Cruise and Reflex mode adjust values and directions of Elevator to flap mix in this screen. Use negative values to change directions of mix. AIL > RUD- active in Cruise and Reflex mode, Adjust values and directions of Elevator to flap mix in this screen. Use negative values to change directions of mix. Mix 1 THR> RFL- active in Cruise and Reflex mode, This mix is used to adjust the flap travel amount and direction when Crow/ butterfly is activated. Note the offset of 90% programs stick to be at neutral at near full up position. Mix 2 THR> LAL- active in Cruise and Reflex mode, This mix is used to adjust the ailerons travel amount and direction (usually up) when Crow/ butterfly is activated. Note the offset of 90% programs stick to be at neutral at near full up position. Mix 3 AIL> LFL- active in Cruise and Reflex mode, This mix is used to adjust the ailerons to flap mix for full trailing edge ailerons. Travel amount and direction is adjusted here. Mix 4 KNB> RFL- active in Cruise mode only, adjusts the flap camber when the knob is rotated in cruises mode only. Note the offset of 90% so the value is adjusted in one direction normally to add camber for thermal mode. Mix 5 THR> ELE- active in Cruise and Reflex mode, provides elevator compensation when crow is activated. Note 90% offset to match crow mix input. Mix 6 AX3> LAL- Always On, This mix is used to adjust the ailerons up or down when the flight mode is switched from launch, cruise and reflex. Note: this program does not employ dual rate, differential, or Expo settings as these are personal preferences and are adjusted per the airplane and pilots desires. Adjust these values per your preference. Tips and Comments Sailplane pilots have personal preferences as to functionality, switch locations, etc. This program provides a baseline to get started but the DX8 allows the versatility to move switches and change functions as desired. Please feel free to experiment but understand that this is an airplane program that offers a high level of functionality and was not designed for sailplane specific functions. Note that in order to allow mix #6 above to operate it was necessary to program the Flight Mode switch to Aux 3 channel in the Switch Select screen. If moving the flight mode functions to another position it will be necessary to reassign this new switch to the Aux 3. The DX8 features backward mixing. If a master is mixed to the right (primary channel) like right aileron, the slave will operate both ailerons as an ailerons. If a master is mixed to a slave channel like the left aileron, the ailerons will operate up and down as flaperons. Understanding the backwards mix function will allow tremendous options when doing complex mixes. Electric Motor use- This program does not incorporate a powered sailplane. In order to add an electric motor one of the P-mixes will need to be reprogrammed to operate the motor function. Typical Mix #6 will be eliminated and the trainer timer button will be assigned to operate the motor in the Aux 3 channel. The timer can be programmed to Aux3 in the Switch select screen.
