5° Raduno Internazionale d’Alianti d’Epoca dal 27 Giugno al 5 Luglio 2008

Il 5° Raduno Internazionale d’Alianti d’Epoca Luigi Teichfuss avrà luogo nel campo volo di Pavullo dal 27 Giugno al 5 Luglio di questo anno. L’evento precederà il 30° Campionato Mondiale di Volo a Vela indetto dalla FAI (30th FAI world Gliding Championship, 8th-20th July 2008 Rieti) che si terrà a Rieti dal 6 al 20 Luglio prossimo.
Pavullo, da non confondersi con Paullo e conosciuto come Pavullo nel Frignano, si trova ad una trentina di km da Modena, la città dell’aceto balsamico e della più famosa fabbrica di auto per la formula uno.
Il campo volo di Pavullo si trova sull’Appennino Modenese ad un’altezza di 682m sul livello del mare e vanta la più antica scuola di Volo a Vela fondata nel 1927 dal Tenente Pilota Umberto Nannini.
Anche il 5° raduno, come anche i 4 raduni precedenti (1994, 1996, 1998 e 2006), commemora la figura di Luigi Teichfuss, prolifico disegnatore d’alianti nel periodo dal 1920 al 1937. Purtroppo nessuna delle sue macchine, nè parti di esse, sono sopravissute agli eventi bellici della seconda guerra mondiale. Restano soltanto fotografie ed alcuni disegni a testimonianza del suo inesauribile operato.
Questo evento della durata di 9 giorni, organizzato dall’Aeroclub Pavullo e coadiuvato da un gruppo d’appassionati di volo a vela storico, è indirizzato a chiunque apprezzi il fascino di quelle vecchie macchine legno e tela o tubi e tela che hanno dato un grande impulso allo sviluppo del volo senza motore, nel periodo a cavallo della seconda guerra mondiale.
Hanno partecipato all’ultimo raduno del 2006 alianti provenienti dalla Germania, Francia, Svizzera e naturalmente dall’Italia, oltre ad un gruppo di appassionati Giapponesi e Americani venuti appositamente per assistere alla manifestazione.
Pavullo non è solamente un paradiso per il volo veleggiato, ma è anche un luogo adatto per trascorrere una piacevole vacanza ed apprezzare le specialità gastronomiche locali.
L’assidua presenza dei partecipanti ne dà la conferma.
Quando programmerete le vostre vacanze di volo per il 2008, considerate Pavullo come un’ottima opportunità. Ricordo che a Pavullo si vola sia al traino che al verricello.

International Vintage Glider Meeting - June 27th – July 5th, 2008, Pavullo, Italy

The 5th International Vintage Glider Meeting – Luigi Teichfuss will take place at the Pavullo airfield in Italy from the 27th of June to the 5th of July this year. The event conveniently precedes the 30th FAI World Gliding Championships (30th FAI world Gliding Championship, 8th-20th July 2008 Rieti) to be held from July 6th to 20th at the Italian soaring center in Rieti, about 400km to the south in central Italy.
Pavullo, or more correctly "Pavullo nel Frignano", is located in the Emiglia-Romagna region close to the city of Modena, best known for its aged balsamic vinegar and the hand-crafted supercars built nearby. The airfield is situated in the Apennine Mountains on the southern edge of the Po River Valley and, along with Asiago just further north in the Alps, is one of Italy’s most historic gliding locations - both date back to the 1920’s and 1930’s.
As with the previous four international vintage glider meetings held in Italy (1994, 1996, 1998, and 2006), the event commemorates the Swiss-Italian designer Luigi Federico Teichfuss. He was a prolific designer and accomplished most of his design and flying activity in Pavullo. Unfortunately, with exception to photographs and some drawings, very little remains of his historic work as most was destroyed in WWII. The efforts of glider historian and author Vincenzo Pedrielli and others have done much to preserve this important yet less well known part of world glider history.

The nine-day flying event, organized by the Aero Club Pavullo and a group of vintage enthusiasts, is open to all glider aficionados. International visitors are especially welcome. The previous 2006 meeting was well attended by French, German, Italian, and Swiss participants, along with two groups from Japan and the United States. Attendees discovered that Pavullo is not only a place to enjoy excellent flying, but also the perfect place for an enjoyable vacation among gliding friends, with exceptional food and wine. Rumor has it those who participated in previous meetings apparently know this quite well!
Consider Pavullo as a unique and enjoyable destination when making your 2008 summer plans. The Aero Club can provide aerotows and winch launches.
