There’s nothing to see here. Move on.

[ MacGregor Industries Modeller Support Centre - Frequently Asked Questions ]

«Some customers have expressed concern over the future availability of DSM2 products from JR. We would like to reassure you that JR DSM2 products will be available for the foreseeable future. Here are our thoughts on the subject, the contents of which have been approved by JR:

There are constant representations being made by other interested parties in the wavebands used for the radio control of models. This is not unique to 2.4 - it used to happen with the FM bands as well (and probably still does!). Anyone well versed in EU policy making would tell you that even if true, such a decision would take many years to come to pass. Even then, such restrictions are seldom applied retrospectively, so DSM2 users can be confident of continuation of supply for a long time to come. And even if DSM2 was restricted for newly imported transmitters in the distant future, additional DSM2 receivers will continue to be available, either as JR or Spektrum products. Our feeling is that Horizon will evolve their DSM2 technology long before any such ban could take effect. Product evolution is going to be a far more decisive factor concerning the future availability of DSM2 products, especially when driven by such a fast moving company as Horizon.

Regarding JR and DSM2, again there is no intention by JR to stop supplying us with DSM2 equipped radios. As far as MacGregor Industries are concerned we will continue to supply JR DSM2 radios for as long as they are available to us.

We will be introducing JR radios with their own DMSS technology as and when they become available. The first DMSS radio that will become available to us is the XG7 which uses Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (no k!) and offers telemetry. Since it is a completely new 2.4 system, it is not compatible with DSM2. XG7 is a mid-range radio but we hope to be able to offer more advanced JR DMSS sets sometime in 2011 (however at this time we have no information on the specifications of such a set).

So, to summarise, JR DMSS radios will be introduced alongside JR DSM2 radios. As far as we know, JR will continue to offer both types for us to import to the UK market.»
We do not know what I mean: I'm writing that JR will not suspend the provision of DSM2 but will support a new product in FHSS. Certainly, JR will not abandon those who purchased its products in the past.

Why a new JR 2.4GHz in FHSS? Because, in many countries, as well as in Italy only FHSS link has free use ...
