Futaba have implemented a region locking feature in the transmitter and RF module firmware. As I understand it, a region ID is stored in the Tx at the factory, and subsequently only RF modules valid for that region will operate correctly when plugged in.
The only reason I can see for tx firmware based region locking is to stop people buying the set in one region and re-selling it in another.
Whatever the reason, the 14MZ comes out of the factory with one of the 'features' namely interchangeale RF modules, effectively crippled.
